Moving from Affiliate Toolkit to affilinode – without touching your posts

Transfer products and lists from Affiliate Toolkit and keep using the old shortcodes: the migration to affilinode step by step.

· 2 min read

Switching plugins puts many people off, because hundreds of posts are full of shortcodes. When you move from Affiliate Toolkit (ATKP) to affilinode, your posts stay as they are: after the migration, the shortcodes [atkp_product] and [atkp_list] simply show the data from affilinode.

What is transferred

The affilinode WordPress plugin comes with a migration. It transfers the products and lists from Affiliate Toolkit to affilinode – on multisite for all sites.

Not transferred are credentials, API keys, feed URLs and tracking IDs. The migration does not even read them. You enter your tracking IDs in affilinode under “Websites” yourself.

Preparation

  • Install the affilinode plugin and connect it with your site’s API key.
  • For Amazon products, create an Amazon partner programme with credentials. affilinode loads unknown ASINs in the background.
  • For data feed products from Awin, activate the advertisers under “Awin-Händler” first.

The process in four steps

  1. Analyse: in WordPress under “affilinode” → “Migration (ATKP)”, the analysis counts products, lists, shops, identifiers and shortcodes.
  2. Transfer: first products, then lists, in batches. “Stopp” pauses, “Fortsetzen” continues at the same point. Transferring again is safe – nothing is created twice.
  3. Check the status: the migration shows assigned, running and unassigned entries per site, and conflicts with their reason.
  4. Deactivate Affiliate Toolkit: only then does affilinode take over its shortcodes.

The full guide with typical conflicts and their solutions is in the help article Umzug vom Affiliate Toolkit (German).

What gets better afterwards

After the migration the data comes centrally from affilinode: price comparison across several shops, automatic replacements for products that are no longer available, and the post check that shows which posts currently show unavailable products. An objective comparison of both solutions is at affilinode vs. Affiliate Toolkit.

Migration is included from the Starter plan – and during the 14-day trial. Start your free trial.
