Click statistics and A/B tests

Which layout gets clicked, which button text works better? The plugin counts clicks itself – sparingly, without cookies and without IP addresses – and can pass them on to your own analytics service.

In all plans

What it does

  • Clicks per box type and post as daily totals
  • No cookies, no IP addresses
  • A/B test for button texts with “Adopt variant B”
  • Click events to Matomo, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager or Umami
  • Each analytics target can be switched on separately, all off by default

Click statistics

The plugin counts clicks per box type and post – product box, price comparison, text link, sidebar widget and every other layout. Only daily totals are stored, in your WordPress database. “Clicks per box type” under Reporting shows what works where.

A/B test for button texts

In the “A/B test” tab you switch the test on and set “Variant B: button text”, optionally “Variant B: without price signals”. Every page view shows A or B at random; only visible buttons and their clicks are counted.

Read the result under Reporting → A/B test. If B is reliably better, “Adopt variant B” applies the setting to all boxes.

Clicks to your analytics service

Under “Analytics click tracking”, the plugin reports clicks on affiliate links to Matomo, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager or Umami – to the tracker your site already loads. It loads no tracker itself, sets no cookies and does nothing if the tracker is missing, for example because the visitor has not consented.

Each click carries the shop, product ID, shortened product name, box type, position in lists, post ID and the domain of the link – never the full affiliate URL with your tracking parameters. The data goes to your service, never to affilinode.

Examples

Event in Google Tag Manager

dataLayer.push({ event: "affiliate_click", … })

Good to know

  • Consent is up to you as the site operator and your consent tool. If GA4 runs inside Tag Manager, enable only Tag Manager – otherwise every click counts twice.
  • Click statistics, the A/B test and analytics events need JavaScript and do not count on AMP pages, which always show variant A. Own redirects (/go/…) count clicks on your server, including those from AMP pages.
  • Middle and Ctrl clicks count too; a double click counts once.

Which shops you can use depends on the plan.
