Tracking IDs

Links only earn commission with your partner ID, and earnings only reach the right website with the right ID. affilinode sets them for you and even finds old IDs in existing posts.

In all plans

What it does

  • Tracking IDs per website and programme, per subsite on multisite
  • Your own Amazon tracking ID per post or box
  • Sub-IDs with post, product and box type – automatically
  • Additional tracking IDs that only count for reports
  • Reconcile tracking IDs from posts and migrations

Per website and subsite

Under Websites → Tracking IDs you enter this website’s ID for each programme: the Amazon partner tag, the Awin clickref, the eBay campaign ID or a network’s sub-ID. In a WordPress network each subsite inherits these values or gets its own.

Per post or box

For a whole post there is the field “Amazon tracking ID for this post” in the editor sidebar; for a single box the attribute tracking="…". The box wins over the post, the post over the website. Only the tag parameter of Amazon links is replaced.

Amazon reports only know the tracking ID, so a separate ID per post or box assigns Amazon earnings precisely.

Sub-IDs automatically

For other networks the plugin adds post, product and box type by itself: in clickref2 to clickref4 for Awin, in the custom ID for eBay, and after the website’s sub-ID for Tradedoubler, ADCELL and Webgains. Values that are already set are never overwritten.

Reconcile old IDs

Besides the ID used in links, each website can have additional IDs that only count for reports. The plugin reports the IDs it finds by itself: when a post is saved, when you move from AAWP, Affiliate Toolkit, Lasso, AmaLinks Pro, ASA or Amazon links, and with “Reconcile tracking IDs now” for all posts.

A default ID from AAWP or Affiliate Toolkit only becomes the link ID where none is set yet – an existing one is never replaced.

Good to know

  • Sub-IDs only use letters, digits, “_” and “-” and are at most 50 characters long; if it gets longer, first the box type and then the product are left out.
  • Amazon tracking IDs consist of letters, digits and hyphens, at most 64 characters. Invalid values are ignored, and logged-in editors see a note.
  • If two websites in your account use the same ID, earnings with it stay unassigned – the plugin shows such values.
  • The assignment works for Amazon, Awin and eBay. Sub-IDs of other networks are stored and count as soon as there is a report import for that network.

Which shops you can use depends on the plan.
